Short Seattle Post

Before finishing that summer entry, I thought I’d do a little update about my time so far at UW.

Food. When using my Husky card to purchase things on my food account everything feels free. It’s pretty fabulous. Of course, that might not be a good thing if I decide to go crazy. Still, the housing site says I can average eleven dollars a day and it seems like plenty of money. I still haven’t gotten around to buying a refrigerator for our room, so I’ve just been eating my beef jerky and fruit leather. Other than that, we’ve eaten at the places on the Ave. We sure love places with teriyaki and sushi. I’ve eaten at Kyoto’s, Wasabi Bistro, Hawaiian Grill, and Ichiro’s in the past five days.

Bathroom. I got tired of using shampoo as soap so I finally bought some body wash. Other than that, it’s been more normal than I expected. I was thinking of something as uncomfortable as showering at Wild Waves. It’s always so gross there. I’ve almost slipped a few times. I poop a lot, and it hasn’t been as awkward as I expected either. Still, it’s weird dropping a bomb when people are brushing their teeth. Maybe I’m immature, but hearing that sort of thing when I’m brushing my teeth is hilarious. After reading that last sentence, I’m pretty sure I’m immature.

Room. Here’s a story to describe our room. In the past days, a lot of people have been walking by and talking to strangers in their rooms. If you’re listening at all, you can tell when people are coming down the hall doing that and prepare yourself for a name exchange. We heard a couple of girls slowly making their way down our hall. For some reason they walked right past our room. “Let’s not go in that room, it’s boring.” True story, hopefully we heard wrong or they weren’t talking to us. Otherwise, I wish we were crazier. It seems fun to me.

That’s long enough for a short post I think. I’ll finish up the summer one sometime.
