Summer is Over

I finally realized that this summer post is holding me back from updating more frequently. I’m starting to forget some of the things that have happened so far in my college experience. Here’s that entry. It’s a little less elaborate and organized than I had hoped for, but I would have never got around to finishing that. Summer is really, really gone now.

Barbecue at Junior’s. There’s not much to say, other than that we each had a pound of rib eye each. That pretty much explains the awesomeness of the barbecue. While I was inside Junior’s house, I missed some awesome backyard action. Paul was outside performing a strength exhibition and used my Frisbee for one of his demonstrations.

Jason Moves Out. Good work with the mattress Russ. Jason had to move. See, Jason had a problem. It was pretty simple. Jason had a mattress. Jason didn’t have a truck. Russ solved that problem, but not with a truck. We used a bunch of bungee rope and his Jeep. After stuffing everything into the back, we tied the top mattress to the top of his Jeep. The fun part came when we put the box spring mattress in the Jeep, supported by the tops of the seats. We thought it would be safe, and Russ did a test drive with hard braking to confirm that. Russ nearly got his head smashed between the mattress and the windshield. As long as we kept our heads down, it was safe enough for us!

We Visit Jason. Jason’s air mattress is awesome. We watched TV and played games. Other than that, I don’t remember much. We ordered a taco pizza from some local pizzeria. I think they either 1) have never seen a taco, or 2) thought we said lettuce pizza.

Harold and Kumar. What an awesome movie. Go see it.

Bagging. We’ve got to make that cash one way or another. After all, you need money to pay for a stuffed animal addiction. Or for pastrami sandwiches with the coveted African bread. It was always iffy going to work, but it was pretty fun when friends were around. I wish we could join in on Mama’s gourmet lunch fest.

Poker Nights. These were definitely fun times. We played often, but made sure our parents didn’t think we had gambling problems. Of course, it was all for fun so our buy-ins were pretty low. It was fun. Winning eight or sixteen bucks is awesome, too.

Russ Goes Away. High school was over. That night is when it really hit me. Russ’s going away party was awesome because I ate a bunch of meat. Jerry needs his own food network show. In the meantime, we’ll just follow in Bobby Flay’s steps and hope we get invited to an Everyday Italian party. We need to cook a brisket and some ribs.

Sprints. Jason beat me in the 100m during the summer. Three times. Someday I’ll get my revenge. I will never forget that first race. Homeboy looked like a cheetah. A really slow cheetah. Of course, that makes me look like a fast sloth or something of that sort.

Camping. So much happened during these two days, it’d be better if you just read the posts. Curt pooped on top of Jerry’s poop because the toilet was clogged. Think about how cool that sounds, then reverse it and that’s how awesome it was.

Weight lifting. You’ll still have dirty clothes if you use this washboard, I haven’t sold any tickets to my gun show, and the base gate officers won’t mistake these arms for cannons. Going to the gym in the mornings was awesome. Even though we never saw a certain NEX employee afterwards, there are always those few Chinese chick days to remember. I was even pumped up enough one morning to beat Junior in a foot race up my hill. Maybe not, but I still schooled Jerry in a game to seven. After all, that’s what really matters in life.

That’s that, but I’m sure I missed some essential summer times. Now I can write about how awesome college is.
