IǃÙm considering trying to read one book a week for the rest of the year. Hopefully I can catch up in the summer and read two a few weeks to try and finish 52 by 2007. IǃÙm doing ok so far. I finished two in two weeks.
Getting Things Done, David Allen
IǃÙm trying to manage my time better, so I decided to try the system outlined in this book. Apparently, GTD has been a best seller since its release, but it blew up in the geek community (whatever that is) in the last couple of years. Although itǃÙs written more for business-types than students, IǃÙve been able to apply most of the bookǃÙs ideas. IǃÙm still working on it, but IǃÙm a step closer to being organized.
Running with Scissors, Augusten Burroughs
Burroughs describes his childhood living with the family of a crazy psychiatrist. It’s interesting enough and written well, I could definitely do without the descriptions of gay sex, but I might just be immature. It’s an easy read and doesn’t require too much focus. The cover started creeping me out after a few days.
IǃÙm slowly working my way through Spunk & Bite. So far, itǃÙs reminded me of two things. One, I havenǃÙt taken an actual English class for four years now (I donǃÙt think distance education courses count). Two, my vocabulary needs some polishing. It takes a few hours to a page because I have to look up half the words in any paragraph.
Next up is EnderǃÙs Game.
That sentence on its own line seems really dramatic. ItǃÙs not. I just donǃÙt have anything else to say.
P.S. Olympics are over. Scrubs and The Office are back. Thank goodness.
