Considering how repetitive my weeks are becoming, yesterday was spontaneous. I went to Oak Harbor. My chemistry teacher mumbled, “There will be no class Tuesday.” Other Cess with two S’s happened to be dropping Curt off at the campus and I passed by them walking home from class. We, Ces Fighter and Cess Fighter II: Tubo (These are bad tag team wrestling names that I just made up. And that’s the bad of the “bad, bad, bad, bad meaning good, meaning good” variety.), ate lunch together and I asked to catch a ride back to the island.
My plan was to surprise my parents. It was a month since I last saw them and I haven’t slept in my bed since before the Super Bowl. I came in around 2. The thing about surprises is that it’s good for the people you’re planning on surprising to be there. When I realized they weren’t going to be home for a while, I left for the gym, making sure to hide my bag and any other signs of me being home. I came back at 9 and they were still out.
Sometimes a 40 minute drive is worth it for ice cream. Last night was one of those times. I left with Jon and Cess to gorge ourselves at Cold Stone. We made it back around 11. My parents came home a little before 1am and I managed to fight the fatigue and was able to greet my mom with the good old “BOO! THE HOUSE AIN’T EMPTY!”
Today, I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some necessities and I checked out the shoe joint with Jon and Cess. I dropped by my uncle’s house to see my cousins, back from Japan. Overjoyed, they yelled and screamed when they saw me. Not. They greeted me with, “Where’s Kuya Dan-Dan?” I’m still crying inside.
I told them “He doesn’t love you guys anymore, he only loves war and nuclear submarines and even if he were here he’d still be distraught because the Academy gave Heath Ledger the shaft.” Back to reality–After explaining to them that Dan is making bags and bags of money to buy them bags and bags of presents, I made my way back to Seattle with Cess.
I got to see my parents, relax, eat some steak, and log in some solid sleep hours. All in all, I did a whole lot of nothing. It was supreme.
When I got back, I checked the class message board and found out that what I thought was “There will be no class on Tuesday” was actually “There will be class on Tuesday.”
