There’s a little less than three weeks left. I’m relatively excited for school to start, but that’s because our little reunion is a few inches away on the calendar. Me, Curt, Jason, Russ, and Wally will be together for the first time since high school graduation. It took me an hour to find enough pictures of us to make this touching collage. I’d rather not post a slideshow here but here’s how it would go: imagine that Melissa Manchester joint ‘Don’t Cry Out Loud’ playing as each picture fades in and out individually.
Talib Kweli Concert
We caught Talib Kweli at Chop Suey last night. ‘Caught’ meaning we pre-purchased tickets, waited in line for forty minutes, and stood inside for another three hours. It was reminiscent of waiting for Episode III. As much as I like Talib, this wasn’t as epic. The crowd grew restless and that was slowly turning to anger. Then he came out. Never before have I seen such a mood swing in a group of people.
He did a good mix of classics and new material. New stuff at concerts is always a little less fun since nobody sings along. The only downer was the Sticky Fingaz clone trying to fight everyone. So I guess the top looks something like Murs @ Chop Suey, Nas @ Bumbershoot 2004, Pack FM & Tonedeff @ Some giant garage downtown, Kanye @ Everett, Common & Talib @ Bumbershoot 2005, Talib @ Chop Suey, Mos Def @ UW. That list is misleading, because all of them were good. Even Mos Def’s Boogeyman Lion King concert (I was too tired like a bicycle).
NFL Week 1 Picks
Maybe I can get over .300 this season. (Since these are a little late, I’ll just start at 0-1 and say I picked Miami): Miami, Atlanta, Baltimore, New England, Cincinnati, St. Louis, New Orleans, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Seattle, Chicago, Jacksonville, Arizona, Indianapolis, San Diego, Washington.
Basketball
Finally, I present my shot chart from today’s pickup game.
