For the umpteenth time, I’ve decided to start posting more frequently. On this go-around, when I don’t have anything specific to write about, I’ll try to write about whatever comes to mind for twelve minutes, then edit it for three minutes. My guess is that I’ll be writing quite a few worthless entries.
Career fairs. Not cool when your resume is also not cool. Essentially, it’s too many people crowded into too small a room and the point is to convince others that you’re better than the last few people they’ve talked to. Unfortunately, if the dozens of reminders in my inbox are true, it’s a FAIRly important event. I attended my first one (don’t scold me please) this past Wednesday. I probably didn’t do a great job with the whole convincing others concept. But it was good experience. And I got to wear a tie.
Peyton Manning’s Monday morning glory was taken away by Bill Parcells. When I woke up, I was hoping to catch the beginning of the Superbowl speculation. Two weeks of “Manning got the monkey off his back” and “Manning needs to win one more game before getting the monkey off his back” was supposed to start this morning. But every channel was Parcells, Parcells, Parcells. So I hit the DVR button and went with my go-to show–Home Improvement. Three letters–JTT. Jill and Tim Taylor. The writing has held up well through the years.
Good news: next year, UW football has home games against Boise State, Ohio State, and USC. Should be entertaining. Bad news: next year, UW football has home games against Boise State, Ohio State, and USC. It’ll probably be far more entertaining for fans of the away teams.
I don’t like to be a pessimist, but it’s just been a bad school year for sports. Shouldn’t the Hawes/Brockman combo be like having Hansbrough and McRoberts on the same team? If only slightly worse. At least the Pac-10 is respected. It’d just be nice to be in the mix. There’s actually a chance UW doesn’t make the tournament–the Pac-10 tournament. But if things go as I’ve planned in my head, we’ll be ranked 7th, upset Oregon, win the Pac-10 for the automatic bid, then win-out (beating UAB, Louisville, and UConn along the way) and I’ll tell my kids I was at UW when they won a championship.
