Contra 4 DS video discussion with EGM and 1Up contributors. And here are some gameplay videos: Jungle level, Ocean level, and City level. (via GameVideos.)
Superbad red band trailer. I’ve never seen this type of preview before, so it’s new to me. You know the green screen during previews? This one starts with a red screen and is meant to be shown before R-rated films. … Continue reading
A hypothetical meal for Bear Grylls from Man Vs. Wild: A little bit of fresh fish, some snake on the side, and zebra for the main course. I know you’re asking, “What will he wash that down with?” Answer: poo … Continue reading
1408
My expectations for this were sort of high, so I came out slightly disappointed. I get sort of excited when a horror or comedy gets praised by critics. The preview hooked me, but it’s misleading. Not as bad as Bug’s … Continue reading
Alien
Now that I’ve seen all of them, I’d rank the trilogy Aliens, Alien, Alien: Resurrection, and Alien 3. I can appreciate all the things that Alien brought to the genre, but it was less entertaining than the second. Watching it … Continue reading
1408 from Everything’s Eventual. I’m about to read it. I enjoyed the movie, but I guess I was expecting it to be scarier.
Alien 3
Aliens is a classic example of a film that doesn’t follow the stereotype of a sequel being worse than the original. Alien 3 is probably one of the reasons people think most trilogies are unnecessary. It’s awful. I watched it … Continue reading
Kanye West makes a beat. He’s slightly arrogant but I guess you can be when you make it look so easy.
Gorditos: One
This showcases my skills with manual focus. Practice makes perfect and I enjoy the perspective so I guess I’ll just keep practicing.
Aliens
Two days ago I realized I had never actually watched any of the Alien movies, except for Resurrection and vs. Predator. Both being mockeries of the series. Dan happened to buy the Alien trilogy from Target one week. We buy … Continue reading
Happy Father’s Day. Hug your dad.
SMS/MMS
For whatever reason, Dan and I have unlimited messages. We’ve stayed far below that limit so far, so I tried to figure out what I could do with that. I came up with the following things: Send an email reminder … Continue reading
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
It’s a popcorn flick and doesn’t try to be anything more. It’s only 92 minutes, meaning it runs slightly longer than Aladdin. There’s not enough time to get tired of it. And there’s not enough time in three eons to … Continue reading
Angry Video Game Nerd: Silver Surfer (Click for Quicktime or Windows Media Player). I like this guy. He’s over the top but I imagine some people like that. The gameplay footage is usually worth watching. If you watch any of … Continue reading
Super Street Fighter II HD: Ken. Shows an overview of converting an original frame to an HD version.
More Stacraft II Units! That’s a YouTube video showing new units including the Soul Hunter, Phase Cannon, Tempest (Carrier!), and Twilight Archon. (via Kotaku.)
Flickr
All the pictures from now on (starting with the beef photos) will be linked to my Flickr account. I upgraded to a Pro account this weekend. I’m starting to think I should’ve done this a long time ago. Better late … Continue reading
Tri Tip Roast
I understand some people aren’t fans of my pictures of beef. I don’t care. This is also the first set of photos that are linked to my Flickr account. I’m going to try this out and see how I like it. Just yesterday I streamlined my process of preparing and uploading pictures for the site and now it’s sort of slowed down by this whole Flickr thing. But I’m probably going to keep it this way because the pros beat the cons by far.
NBA Finals Game 3 commentary.
A good time for love songs
Kanye West – “Bittersweet” It feels like I’ve been waiting for this song for a few years now, because I have. Mostly because of some mp3 snippet from freshman year. Here’s the clip with John Mayer and Kanye in the … Continue reading
San Diego: Seven
Mostly taken at the Carlsbad K-1 Indoor Karting Facility. For some reason they base rankings on single best lap time rather than average time (aka best total time). I got passed by Dale Earndhardt and Mario Andretti and that’s it. Didn’t see the other guys the entire time. I placed last of the five of us. Doesn’t make sense!
UGK & Outkast – International Player’s Anthem. Nobody gets me more excited for a guest verse than Andre. The video’s got a lot of people in it.
San Diego: Six
Taken at the Night and Day Cafe. Jason swears by the place. And it delivered the goods. Really feels like a diner. As if I know what that means, but the employees (meaning the one cook and his assitant) really set the atmosphere. Service is slow but everyone seems to expect that so it’s not some awful surprise.
The Crystal Maze pilot. The first episode of one of my favorite shows as a kid. We had weird channels in Atsugi. I remember this being on Star Seven at weird hours. Small Wonder was another favorite, and it also … Continue reading
San Diego: Five
This is the first set photography entry I did from start to finish in Ubuntu. I’m running Photoshop 7 with Wine. So far, I can’t really say that I miss CS2. I was still able to create a few actions and batch. I can’t save for web though, which is sort of awful. Maybe I’ll learn some GIMP scripting. I have all summer. gFTP is kind of tedious, because I’m so used to dragging and dropping from file browser windows.
About the pictures, we must’ve eaten a dozen pounds of meat at the place. They bring rods (I like to call them swords) of meat around and cut pieces off for you. It’s good stuff, but I wish you could just request a certain type. You feel sort of obliged to eat everything that comes around.
Blue Scholars – “Back Home” video. I was a little turned off on Blue Scholars because I overloaded and saw them too many times in a year, but I can’t hate anymore. P.S.: Sorry about the last music link (TMNT … Continue reading
The Departed
These review scores are usually fairly arbitrary–I give everything a five. The Departed gets a six! That exclamation point is the only way I can demonstrate how excited I am about how good this was. Yes, it’s my first viewing, … Continue reading
Some imaging company has been showing off some pretty advanced techniques by taking celebrities and showing how they’ll age. Here’s a video of the process with LeBron James.
Canibus – “Harbinger of Light”. Wait, this is sort of good. (via Sumish.)
The assassination of Inejiro Asanuma
This is from the “Unforgettable Photos” link I posted about twenty minutes ago. It was the second photograph on that page. I don’t remember having seen it before today, so I did a little reading. Inejiro Asanuma was the head … Continue reading
Unforgettable Photographs. Most of these are pretty recognizable. They aren’t happy by any means. None of them are gory, but some are a little disturbing. (via Kottke.)
Ubuntu
Last night I backed up one of my drives and this morning I installed Ubuntu. It’s safe to say I leveled up this morning in coolness rating by concurrently installing Linux and reading the sci-fi classic Fall of Hyperion. I … Continue reading
Can you say jackpot: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Concert.
John Rambo Teaser. 3 and 1/2 minutes of ACTION.
Vanity Fair covers. Twenty-two different covers with a lot of famous people, including Jay-Z, Chris Rock, George Bush, you know what I’ll just end up listing them all because they’re pretty famous. I wonder if they were all at the … Continue reading
Pippen dunk on Ewing. Original recording with the commentary and it doesn’t cut off so you get to see Spike Lee also.
Akon throws a kid off the stage. I couldn’t think of a clever title. Shouldn’t there be a lawsuit out of this? Here’s another view.
San Diego: Three
Straight off the plane. I was expecting some kind of euphoric experience after going through high school and college without having it (save for the one Paul special delivered by car, thanks!). My expectations were probably too high. Is In-N-Out better than Dick’s: by far. Is In-N-Out good: definitely. Is In-N-Out overrated: maybe. It’s that good but it’s not THAT good.
San Diego: Two
I’m gonna give myself a pat on the back for this one. That’s Jason talking to the 5-0. Wally and Dan are side by side trying to Mapquest. Russ is probably thinking about the end of A Walk to Remember.
