The Crystal Maze pilot. The first episode of one of my favorite shows as a kid. We had weird channels in Atsugi. I remember this being on Star Seven at weird hours. Small Wonder was another favorite, and it also happens to be one of the worst shows of all time. Anyway, the show has one group of contestants. Each person gets to play a game in a room to earn a crystal. They’re timed and you get locked in the room if time runs out. At the end, each crystal gives the group a certain number of seconds in a giant plastic box where they blow strips of gold and silver foil around. The strips represent a certain cash value and the group splits the total at the end. That’s as much as I can remember. Here’s a spoof. I found it pretty funny but it probably depends how familiar you are with the show. If there’s room for Deal or No Deal there’s room for an American remake of The Crystal Maze.
