For whatever reason, Dan and I have unlimited messages. We’ve stayed far below that limit so far, so I tried to figure out what I could do with that. I came up with the following things:
- Send an email reminder to myself. For T-Mobile, I just text the number 500 and put my email address in the body. This type of thing is limited to 160 characters like any other SMS, so it’s pretty much useless since I found out that I can…
- Send an email to myself through MMS. I know the future is now, but I just found out it’s possible to just send the MMS straight to an email address. The limit in this is 300K, which isn’t all that much for media. But for text, that’s like a few novellas. I can send longer things I write in Mobile Word (haikus, love poems/letters, etc) to myself. It seems pretty handy, but I guess I’ll see how useful it is in the coming weeks.
- Send a picture to my Flickr through MMS. Every Flickr account has a specified email address that you can send pictures to. What I can figure is that it just checks the attachment and posts it. I couldn’t get it to work consistently straight from my phone to that Flickr address. To fix that, I send the picture to my Gmail, where I’ve set up a filter that takes emails with attachments from my phone number and forwards it to the Flickr address.
