In July I bought a 250GB Essential Edition My Book. Anyway, I can’t recommend it. I had all my pictures from the Philippines on it. Then I went to San Diego. When I came back I found out my new hard drive was Essential-y broken. Wouldn’t turn on. Not that cool. I heart attacked for about two hours, then Paul lent me his cables and it turned out to be my power cable. I was able to back up everything that was on the drive. Thank goodness. Then I procrastinated, got an RMA number in September, procrastinated some more, got a replacement sent to Oak Harbor, and finally got a hold of the drive this weekend.
And guess what? It’s like the guys at the factory opened up my box, took out the drive, and said, “Wait just one second! Why’s he sending this here? This isn’t Our Book, it’s His Book!” And then put the drive in another box and sent it back to me. Exact same problem. Wouldn’t turn on. So now I’ve sent out again. Hopefully I have better luck, but I’m still out $12 on UPS labels.
While slightly on the subject, I resized and uploaded all the pictures from the Philippines here. I just threw them in jUploader and pressed go. I kind of forgot that I paid for a Flickr account and decided I better start using the thing. It’s mostly to send to my parents while I get some ready to print for them. Nothing is processed and there might be some weird pictures in there.
