What I did this weekend

Friday

My parents drove up to Seattle, scooped me and Dan up, then had a family outing at Muckleshoot Casino. It was prime rib and dungeness crab night at the buffet, which pretty much means food-heaven night for me. At buffets you tend to grab everything on the first trip. It doesn’t really matter how good everything else is, on the next trip, you tend to focus on maybe three items the rest of the trips. Or you say “I’m done” after the first plate, which most likely means you’re a girl making your boyfriend angry for taking you to a buffet. On Friday, the important items were pretty much nailed. I beasted. I’m estimating about 4500 calories for that meal. What’s sort of awesome is filling the plastic sauce holders to the brim with clarified butter and seeing it empty when the plate is finished. What’s really awesome is doing it again on the next plate. Also, lost $20 on slots ($25 minimum on Pai-Gow isn’t hot in the streets for me right now).

Saturday

Dan took us to Bring Your Family to Work Day at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Now I have a better idea of what he does. Well, at least some idea. Actually, I still don’t have that great an idea. It was cool though, especially to see all the people he mentions from work. Also, we visited a family we knew in Atsugi and Misawa before that. It’s been ten years since then. Mark, one of the sons, was one of my best friends in Atsugi. We played Rock ‘N Roll Racing together, saw a UFO together, and ate soda-rice together. Kind of crazy to see him again. Then I went bowling with Tubo, Marvin, and Brian. Kenmore Lanes has sort of a sticky floor. Either that or the Navy bases have really smooth floors. Either way, I bought this $3 sponge thing that held what was most likely baby powder to keep from ripping my ACL or something. If you’re a military kid, don’t take those lanes for granted, it was $4 a game out here and that’s supposedly not that bad. Also, lost $20 on blackjack.

Sunday

Lazy day. Woke up, watched Hoop Dreams. Cleaned, watched TV. The trouble with the Pac-10 is that all these good teams are having to play each other. It’s slightly cannibalistic so that nobody’s going to end up in the title game. The great thing about the NFC West is that all these bad teams are having to play each other. It’s sort of the opposite so that the Seahawks may somehow end up in the playoffs. Fantastic.
