Memorial day weekend recap: Saturday

Woke up. We were out of it. We got ready and tried to figure out where to eat. Jason wanted a burger. In ‘n’ Out doesn’t sound as exciting when it’s not two states away. But that’s a moot point, … Continue reading

Memorial day weekend: five

Those awesome tourist pictures where the guy is alone in the frame in front of a landmark. And Jason’s raising the roof. These are in fact from 2008 not 1997.

Memorial day weekend recap: Friday

Woke up. Jason was still at work. Wally looked like he’d probably sleep all day if nobody bothered him. So I made my way to Jason’s room to try to sleep on an actual bed, but instead I just listened … Continue reading

Wow that picture of Wally got lost in space or something, because I sent it out on Friday and was wondering why it never showed up. Better late than never!

Memorial day weekend: four

I’m writing this about a couple months after the fact. At the time, I really thought the Lakers basically were on their way to a championship. And I wasn’t the only one. I enjoyed the audience blackout.

Memorial day weekend recap: Thursday

Went with my mentor aka P-Mac (I’ve told him that I have a site where I just talk smack about all my coworkers and use indistinct names like “P” and “B”) to watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the … Continue reading

Memorial day weekend: three

Graffiti in L.A. The Los Angeles Times logo looked awful gangster when we passed by it. All I could think of was that song “Old English”. Which is also what comes to mind in the grocery store when I pass by the wood cleaner.

Memorial day weekend: two

We ate at Sushiya before driving to Los Angeles. They have 50% off of everything. All the time. It’s basically the same business model that makes laptop prices sort of high on manufacturer sites because of the perpetual coupons. That’s supposed to be an “L” for the Lakers game.

Bill Simmons with Chuck Klosterman (Links directly to an mp3 file). Klosterman is in Germany. It’s an hour-long, so I don’t expect anyone to listen to the entire thing that hasn’t already. There’s a fairly interesting discussion near the end … Continue reading

And smiled! It turned out a lot better than I expected, considering it was on my camera phone. Work is riveting.

Tropic Thunder red band trailer. This movie’s looking real promising, so long as they didn’t stick all the good parts in the preview. I basically can’t stand Jack Black at this point, but Robert Downey Jr.’s killing it right now.

South 1st Ave First Fridays May

This is when I tried to expand my horizons. I guess I’m uncultured, but I really couldn’t stand being in there. The art is definitely cool, but I left once I caught myself staring at a painting for way too long and trying to think of some sophisticated blurb to describe my appreciation for it.

If you’re gonna be a bandwagon fan, you may as well give it 110%

This Thursday I’m flying down to San Diego to meet up with Wally and Jason, then we’re driving back up to San Jose. Some people think it’s sort of dumb, but a one-way plane ticket costs maybe $10-$20 more (if … Continue reading
