Mongol

Russian film about the greatest Mongol of all spoken in Mongolian with subtitles.¨Ü So it may as well be an American film in Mongolian with subtitles–you can’t really tell.¨Ü You can tell that, for an epic, it’s relatively low budget.¨Ü A bit into the movie, I wondered what the R rating was for, then the first large battle took place and I was sold.

Genghis Khan’s early history isn’t recorded because Mongolians pass history down verbally rather than in writing. So if you make a movie about Genghis Khan’s childhood and life leading up to becoming Khan of the entire empire, you can essentially make everything up.¨Ü If I were watching the History channel, I might be mad¨Ü But if this caveat lets people make a movie filling in very large holes in history with their imaginations, I’m not so mad.

Throw it on your queues!¨Ü Went on Wikipedia about it and found out that it’s the first of a trilogy.¨Ü Went to IMDB to read trivia and found out that the rest of the trilogy might not be made because of the economy.¨Ü Here’s hoping.
