Super Street Fighter IV impressions (and a new trailer) from Gamespot. I think it’d be a good idea to post more things that aren’t related to fake football and fake football gambling. Capcom confirmed Super Street Fighter IV this week, introducing three of eight new characters: T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and Juri (from what I’ve gathered, she’s some lady, but I’m guessing there’s more to it than that).
It’s a standalone title and people seem mad¨Ü that it isn’t just downloadable content. Capcom, I’m not mad at you. First, it’s expected, costume packs already cost $4. And those add very little to the gameplay. They’re not just letting opponents pick the same character or adding four bosses. Eight new characters is basically an additional third of the original set of characters. It’s Tiger to Leopard not Leopard to Snow Leopard. And there’s bound to be a bunch of character tweaks for balance. SSFIV won’t be sold at full price, and I’d much rather pay, say, $40 and get a new disc than $25 to basically lock the game to my console.
More importantly, that trailer… the first word that comes to mind is flaccid. It’s a continuation of the Ken and Ryu ink-blot fight. Only the closing Super Street Fighter IV logo kept me from double checking to make sure I didn’t just re-watch a video from last year.
