Recent trips

I’m on my way to Philadelphia for work and forgot Mockingjay so instead of figuring out what’s good with Katniss I’m gonna try to write something worth reading. Here are short descriptions about some recent trips I’ve taken.

February trip to Memphis: Anytime I’m feeling too happy and want to ground myself a little I remember that my coworkers decided to eat at a Brazilian BBQ place instead of Memphis BBQ. While in Memphis.

February trip to Seattle: After HG Lounge I bought out Subway’s cookie rack. It’s the homeless man’s version of Katsumoto buying the airline.

March trip to Vegas: This was me before work on the Monday after.

Vegas with the unanimous decision.

April trip to Baltimore: I pretty much knew only two things going into Baltimore—they have crab cakes and The Wire is based there. The crab cakes were delicious and I didn’t got shot so it was a pretty good trip.

May trip to Seattle: Went to Oak Harbor and re-lived a September night with Marvin—my mom cooked and we ate a lot then watched TV and talked. Yes while under candlelight before exchanging glitter stickers. Leave me alone!

Of course, the big event we were waiting for was the Pacquiao fight. Of course, the big event we were waiting for was Jerry and Arlene’s wedding. I was a reader during the ceremony (beautiful followed by a great reception by the way), which was an honor. Here’s what I read, from Corelli’s Mandolin:

Love is not breathless, it is not excitement, it is not the making of profuse promises of eternal passion—that is just being “in love,” which any fool can do. But “being in love” is only temporary—like the blossoming of trees in spring.

Real love is what’s left over when “being in love” has fallen off and drifted away—like those blossoms in the wind. Real love is like two strong trees standing side by side supporting and sheltering one another, with their branches and roots so entwined that, in the end, we find they are one tree—not two—and it is inconceivable that they could ever part.

I’m supposed to read that and not cry, got it!

May trip to Philadelphia: this is currently in progress but my goal is to run to and up the Rocky stairs. By my very rough estimate, the calorie burn will completely offset me crushing on as many cheesesteaks as possible.
