A year ago today I woke up before sunrise, tossed a few more things in the whip, and left Seattle. I wrote something fairly sappy, saved it and started something new because I already talk too much about how I miss people in Washington. Instead, without much thought here are three less important things I miss.

Food. Of course, the food. Teriyaki in particular. And just that good Asian spots can be found throughout Seattle. And dungeness crab in even more particular.

Green Lake. I guess that par-3 now more than the park itself. Always a good way to kill an hour. I miss running around the lake but I stopped doing that months before I moved — after the scumbag stole my wallet and cell phone out of my car. And that might be the only time that you’ll see me begin a sentence with, “I miss running…”

Heading south on I-5. University of Washington on the left and then the Space Needle on the right. I didn’t appreciate how nice Seattle looks until 2008 when I came back from a six-month stay in San Jose.

So those are some things I miss. I’d be lying if I said that it feels like yesterday. Time went by fast but my life’s changed so much. In good ways and bad ways, but change is the main reason I made my decision.

At this point I still feel like I’ll move back eventually. Friends joke that I’ll change my tune if I get a girlfriend down here. Based on the previous sentence, it looks like I’m definitely moving back!

Brb, gonna try to drown myself in bowl of candy corn.
