A year ago today I arrived in San Diego. A lot of my coworkers were in the same boat having moved to San Diego from a different state. As much as I talk about missing friends in Seattle, my coworkers are quick to remind me that I’m taking for granted how lucky I am — some of them knew nobody in San Diego while I was reconnecting with some of my best friends. And it’s been great having them in my life again. That’s the end of the sappiness. Now I’ll talk about three things I enjoy about San Diego that are far less important than people.
The food. Of course, the food. Specifically, fish tacos and Tacos el Gordo.
Proximity to LA. I always have a good time in LA. One reason is, well, the food. But having the Lakers and Clippers nearby is great. And so was the plan to get some kind of Clippers package this season. Whenever that might be.
Weather. Basically a given. Weather’s probably the thing I’m actually taking for granted that I never thought I’d take for granted. I understand when people say they like the rain and miss it when they’re away from Seattle. I like it too. But I love the sun.
Bonus reason: Kayla.
